For the first time, ESB is moving its Summer School to the USA!

This year, Jean-Yves Esquerre is offering our internationally sought-after summer school in the fabulous city of Las Vegas. ESB is being hosted by the University of Las Vegas.

ESB Summer School 2024 will take place between July 8th and July 27th. The classes will be taught by an exceptional team of international ballet stars and pedagogues.

1 . EUROPEAN BALLET WEEK

(July 8 – 13)

BALLET PIANIST WORKSHOP

(July 15 – 20)

New and unique workshop geared towards ballet pianists in search of new approaches and techniques to improve their musical accompaniment. Led by international Master Pianist Vinicio Colella, this 20-hour workshop offers Monday to Saturday afternoons exploring Ballet classes themes and repertoire.

  • How to use improvisation for all barre and center exercises of a ballet class.
  • How to use and square off a music from the ballet repertoire and how to adapt it to barre and center exercises.
  • How to vary the music of classical piano repertoire and use it for a ballet class.
  • How to become versatile in the use of various musical styles including jazz, pop and modern within the frame of a ballet class.
  • How to apply all simple, composed and asymmetrical times to a ballet class.
  • How to use the music of the Italian melodrama (opera arias).

PEDAGOGICAL WEEK

(July 8 – 13)

Available to practicing and aspiring professionals of dance education, our Pedagogical Week is designed to provide visiting teachers with an intensive, in-depth practical immersion into French, Danish and Italian pedagogical methods with an insight into Balanchine Style.

The program includes observation of classes and demonstration, talks with international teachers and ESB Director, offering its participants an opportunity to closely experience unique teaching environments.

The program lasts a week and includes:

  • Observation of Bournonville style classes & rehearsals
    • with Dinna Bjørn & Eric Viudès
  • Observation of Cecchetti style classes and rehearsals
    • with Anita Young & Cristina Saso
  • Observation of French style classes and rehearsals
    • with Jean-Yves Esquerre & Arthur Sai
  • Observation of Balanchine master classes
    • with Suki Schorer
  • Pedagogical meetings with ESB director Jean-Yves Esquerre
  • Lectures / Q&A sessions:
